About Private
Banking Life

What this publication is & what it isn’t.

Private Banking Life is a publication for the senior end of the private banking industry.

It is written for the people who already know how the market works. The senior bankers running multi-hundred-million dollar books. The team heads building or rebuilding regional desks. The managing directors at the boutiques and the universal banks and the family offices. The strategy and platform leaders shaping how the industry will look in five years.

The publication is not for retail readers, aspiring wealth managers, or industry observers. It assumes a senior reader, treats them as one, and writes accordingly.

Why This Publication Exists

Three reasons.

First, the senior end of private banking has fewer reliable signals than it should. Industry press covers headlines but not movement. Bank earnings calls cover assets but not people. Conferences cover narratives but not patterns. The conversations that actually clarify where this industry is going happen in private — between bankers, between bankers and their search partners, between bankers and their clients. This publication brings some of those conversations into a more useful form.

Second, after twenty-five years inside this market, the patterns become visible. Where talent is genuinely moving. Which platforms are quietly gaining and which are quietly losing. Which boutique strategies are actually working and which are headline strategy. The publication is an attempt to put some of those patterns into structured form for the people who would benefit from seeing them.

Third, the conventional wisdom inside this industry is more often wrong than is comfortable to admit. Most career advice for senior bankers is generic. Most negotiation advice is anchored to outdated firm dynamics. Most assumptions about where the industry is going are based on the last cycle rather than this one. The publication takes the contrarian position when the contrarian position is the one that holds up to scrutiny.

How it works

Private Banking Life

Who Writes It

Steve Slater, founder of Ateca. Twenty-five years in senior search across financial services, technology, and private banking. Based in Dubai, with operations across London, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Geneva.

Ateca is a senior executive search and advisory firm licensed in the Dubai International Financial Centre. The firm is the platform from which this publication is written, but the publication is editorially independent of Ateca’s commercial work. No mandate is ever named. No candidate is ever identified.
